SFPS Newsletter -- July, 2002
SFPS offers AIA Continuing Education Course
Conference, Learning, and Performance facilities require the use of
audio/visual presentation systems and equipment to meet the Owners specific program
requirements. The expert implementation of these varied systems too often falls
outside the expertise of Architects and Electrical Engineers. Price sticker
shock is often a reality when the true systems requirements are revealed. The
program presented discusses, through lecture and case study, the implementation of these
systems and reveals the budget requirements for facility infrastructure and systems
installation. The program includes worksheets for the development of systems
programming requirements with the architects clients so that realistic systems
budgets can be discussed. A checklist of physical requirements for video, lighting,
and audio equipment is given along with descriptions of typical electrical power and
systems raceway requirements. The program is divided into the following segments:
Determining the Clients Program for A/V Systems
Guidelines for equipment locations
Case Studies
Lecture Halls and Classrooms
Multimedia Teaching Facilities
High School Auditoriums
Performing Arts Auditoriums
Worship Centers
Courtrooms and Council Chambers
Budget development cookbook
This course with 2 case studies will last two hours and attendees

of experience.
