SFPS Develops "Standard" Classroom Systems
For Mercer University School of Nursing Mercer University's new School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA, wanted to provide students with a modern classroom/lecture hall environment that offers the best possible learning experience, to create a uniform lecture experience for instructors and to ensure its own flexibility to adapt to evolving technology requirements.

The school selected Stage Front Presentation Systems (SFPS), a Savannah, GA, design-build presentation systems integrator, to design, develop and install a sophisticated uniform multimedia classroom system that would meet its requirements. In preparation, SFPS worked closely with Mercer University s technology committee to develop technology implementation standards for the project. These standards comprise 5 levels of technology ranging from the basic "electronic" classroom to the fully equipped distance learning center. This building block approach delivers a uniform interface for the instructors and provides a logical path for future upgrades as required. At completion, Mercer University s new School of Nursing is a state of the art facility that includes fully featured "level 4" lecture hall systems and simpler "level 3" classroom systems.

"The instructors at Mercer School of Nursing needed confidence that they could use the same multimedia courseware in every equipped classroom, said SFPS account representative Chuck Cooper. Through our standardized systems approach, each same-level room is identically equipped with the same powerful features and simple user interface. This not only makes operation easier, he said, but also reduces the cost of installation and maintenance.

In addition, SFPS has deployed its standardized systems approach at Mercer University's Macon, GA, campus, and is contracted to furnish teaching spaces in the new Academic Building in Atlanta.
