RUMC has a reputation of providing its congregation the opportunity to actively participate during worship in the vast domed space with the singing of traditional hymns led by a 150 voice choir and accompanied by a huge Moeller pipe organ. Special events concerts are provided throughout the year including Easter and July 4th extravaganzas.
In November of 2002 RUMC contracted with SFPS, in conjunction with consultant Jim Brawley, to develop a comprehensive plan to design and install a complete audio, video and lighting system upgrades and to install large screen video displays. Working as a team member with the church staff, SFPS developed an integrated system design and was selected as equipment supplier and installation contractor. Installation began in July 2003 and was completed by the end of September. CCL Associates provide General Contractor support for building renovations to allow the installation of the new production systems equipment.

The systems include:
Loudspeaker systems were installed to cover all congregational seating areas. Concert line array technology was incorporated in a center cluster system. Supplemental loudspeakers were used to cover the upper and under balcony, the front seating rows, and the choir loft. The choir loft was covered with a dedicated array incorporating 72 loudspeakers use to foldback the choir microphones back to themselves. The circular geometry of the Sanctuary does not provide sound reflective surfaces to support the choir voices in the choir loft. This choir loudspeaker system used LARES technology to provide the effect of an electronic orchestra shell.

The choir loft and chancel areas lighting was upgraded with a new front of house fixtures, dimming and control system and incorporated instruments with color changers that provide dramatic lighting effect for special events. The overall lighting intensity was increased to benefit video images for the display systems and video recording of the Worship services.
In new projection chambers, provided by CCL Associates, SFPS installed two new 15’x20’ projection video displays. The rear screen projectors display computer, DVD and IMAG images from the updated 3-chip production video system.

During the summer RUMC added a contemporary music worship service. SFPS was called upon to quickly add an orchestra monitor system that provides in-ear monitoring for the seven praise team musicians.
SFPS also coordinated with CCL to incorporate HVAC noise control recommendations by acoustical consultant George Augspurger.
Having the opportunity to support such a great ministry as the Roswell United Church makes SFPS proud of their work as Design-Build systems integrators for Project.
